Upcycled Gingerbread Village

If you are a Pinterest browser like me, then you’ve more than likely fallen down the Holiday Rabbithole that is your feed right now. All the tasty treats, fun crafts and decor ideas can be found through mindless scrolling. I have a whole board dedicated to the season!

When I saw the fun gingerbread theme this year, I decided to use up some things we had around the house and create my own little village to sit atop our entertainment stand. With a little help from my husband, me + powertools = no good, we were able to create the perfect little homes, tall church spires and of course we couldn’t forget the big red barn.

What You’ll Need:

  • Scrap wood pieces
  • Leftover cans of stain
  • White Sharpie paint markers

My husband helped me to cut out the shapes I drew on the scrap pieces of wood using his jigsaw. I stained them each with two coats and let them dry fully over night. The next day during my “naptime hustle” I used my white Sharpie markers to draw on windows, door, rooves and decorations to each of the little houses, church and barn. We finished it off by attaching them all to a single long piece of wood so they would stand upright on top of the TV stand.

I just love how they turned out, how unique each little house is and that they will last us for many seasons to come!
