Winter boredom busters are a must in the coop in the winter. They help to keep everybody busy and prevent fighting and picking on chickens.

In the summer we were so lucky to have all the veggies from our garden to hang up in the coop as chicken piñatas, or watermelon sales at the grocery for a nice sweet treat. It gets harder in the winter to keep everybody occupied. We’ve done sunflower seeds, I always try to keep any leftovers from dinner prep for them and any old or stale bread goes there way.

Today, while doing our own weekly grocery shop, I came across some mini watermelons. I couldn’t resist. I also purchased a head of cabbage to hang up later this week. Needless to say, our girls and Albert, were slightly spoiled with a nice sweet treat today!
