So, now that I was finally able to get the present to the birthday girl (only a week late, I am sorry!) I can reveal my newest little project.
I am on an alpaca kick, and to inform Dan of my seriousness, I have taken up knitting. I found a tutorial on-line for arm knitting a chunky blanket. Forty-five minutes later I had my first throw. So I went to Michaels, bought the thickest, softest yarn I could find, and started my next blanket.
Of course Dan had a plan to help me out, and bless that man’s heart, it turned out to be a great idea. He built me a stand to knit on so that I could get a tighter stitch. It worked like a charm and now I am thinking I should make a hobby of this.
The only down fall…yarn prices! Yikes.
I’ve looked into buying on-line, etc. and still don’t know what the best option is. I guess we’ll have to make a trial and error effort out of it and see where it takes me. I’m hoping it leads to a couple alpacas of my very own in the spring. Let’s see what I can create!
I was recently at the Manitoba Fibre Festival (yes we have those here, in October if you’re ever in the neighbourhood) and was amazed at the assortment of yarn available. I don’t even knit. It was overwhelming. They also had live animals on display. Toooo cute. Good for you for taking the plunge. Your finished project looks great!! and very cozy!
