Love Among the Chickens

A good book, chickens, and a cozy spot for sitting. Now these are a few of my favourite things!

With the weather being so fantastic this past week I have taken the opportunity to find myself a new perfect reading spot, right inside one of my little chicken coops! I thought this would be a great way to integrate in with the new Spring babies and catch up on my latest reads. I would like to think I am becoming a chicken whisperer and they consider me one of their own now.

We have all 11 of the littles out of their brooders and living in the Polish Pickup Palace coop. We have even started working on a giant outdoor chicken enclosure for both big and little for the summer. I sure am excited to finish that project, but not excited for trying to introduce the littles to our older girls. Here’s hoping we can come to find some peace among the groups and live in harmony. 

Until then, I spend my afternoon spare time sitting out in the coop, trying to pick everyone up and make sure they know we are going to be friends. I believe some of my determination is paying off as I have a couple of the Polish babies who have decided perching on a knee or hand isn’t so bad.

And I’m on a roll for new reads…just having finished my third book of the last couple months. My suggestions : All the Light We Cannot See and The Girl on the Train. I must admit I just finished We Were Liars and wasn’t too impressed.  What’s on your summer reading list?!
